چکیده

The structure-property characteristics of a series of newly synthesized intramolecular chargetransfer (ICT) compounds, single-branch monomer with triphenylmethane as electron donor and 2,1,3-benzothiadiazole as acceptor, the corresponding two-branch dimer and threebranch trimer, have been investigated by means of steady-state and femtosecond timeresolved stimulated emission fluorescence depletion (FS TR-SEP FD) techniques in different polar solvents. The TD-DFT calculations are further performed to explain the observed ICT properties. The interpretation of the experimental results is based on the comparative studies of the series of compounds which have increased amount of identical branch moiety. The similarity of the absorption and fluorescence spectra as well as strong solvent-dependence of the spectral properties for the three compounds reveal that the excited state of the dimer and trimer are nearly the same with that of the monomer, which may localize on one branch. It is found that polar excited state emerged through multidimensional intramolecular charge transfer from the donating moiety to the acceptor upon excitation, and quickly relaxed to one branch before emission. Even so, the red-shift in the absorption and emission spectra and decreased fluorescence radiative lifetime with respect to their monomer counterpart still suggest some extent delocalization of excited state in the dimer and trimer upon excitation. The similar behavior of their excited ICT state is demonstrated by FS TR-SEP FD measurements, and shows that the trimer has the largest charge-separate extent in all studied three samples. Finally, steady-state excitation anisotropy measurements has further been carried out to estimate the nature of the optical excitation and the mechanism of energy redistribution among the branches, where no plateau through the ICT band suggests the intramolecular excitation transfer process between the branches in dimer and trimer.

Localized emitting state and energy transfer properties of quadrupolar chromophores and (multi)branched derivatives.

In order to better understand the nature of intramolecular charge and energy transfer in multibranched molecules, we have synthesized and studied the photophysical properties of a monomer quadrupolar chromophore with donor-acceptor-donor (D-A-D) electronic push-pull structure, together with its V-shaped dimer and star-shaped trimers. The comparison of steady-state absorption spectra and fluores...

Photophysical properties of photoactive molecules with conjugated push-pull structures.

The photophysical properties of two newly synthesized photoactive compounds with asymmetrical D-pi-A structure and symmetrical D-pi-A-pi-D structure are investigated in different aprotic solvents by steady-state and femtosecond fluorescence depletion measurements. It is found that the asymmetrical DA compound has larger dipole moment change than that of the symmetrical DAD compound upon excitat...

Fluorescence and two-photon absorption of push-pull aryl(bi)thiophenes: structure-property relationships.

Photophysical and TPA properties of series of push-pull aryl(bi)thiophene chromophores bearing electron-donating (D) and electron-withdrawing (A) end-groups of increasing strength are presented. All compounds show an intense intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) absorption band in the visible region. Increasing the D and/or A strength as well as the length of the conjugated path induces bathochr...

An examination of the effects of push and pull factors on Iranian national parks: Boujagh National Park, Iran

This article analyses the push and pull factors that bring visitors to the Iranian national parks. The study used a structured questionnaire to collect data on these factors and the socio-demographic profile of the visitors. Survey conducted in Boujagh National Park, an area of 3177 hectares located in the north of the Iran, produced 400 questionnaires. The factor analysis identified four push ...

Solvent and branching effect on the two-photon absorption properties of push–pull triphenylamine derivatives

The photophysical and two-photon absorption (2PA) properties of two tri-podal molecules and of their quadrupolar and dipolar counterparts are reported for a series of solvents with varying polarity. The molecules possess a tri-phenylamine electron donating group and mono-cyano acceptors while olefinic and acetylenic p-linkers have been used. Branching led to an increase of the molar extinction ...
